Description

The X20 is a perfect platform for going beyond the standard 6-string and with the X20-12 being the best sounding 12-string we have ever heard, we decided to add it to our standard range.

Carbon fibre offers great structural strength and stability which makes it perfect for 12-string guitars. The strength of carbon allows us to make a soundboard that is both light and responsive and its stability and resistance to temperature and humidity create a 12-string that stays in tune much better than its wooden counterparts.

The X20-12 is a guitar designed with the player in mind and not tradition. It features an ergonomic forearm bevel and a beveled cutaway to give even greater access to the fretboard.  Our unique asymmetrical back contours make the X20 sit more comfortably and securely on your knee.

The neck has a very comfortable shallow C profile with a 1 15/16″ nut and the heel is reduced in profile to give better access to the higher frets.

Tonally this guitar has a big voice, We developed a new laminate structure to give it a richer fuller sound and with the unique soundhole placement it gives great projection to the player, while still giving your audience the fullness of your performance.

The X20-12 Opus is generally in stock or available on a short lead time (e-mail sales@emeraldguitars.com for enquiries). It is available in black only and does not include a pick-up. An LR Baggs Element Active System™ – VTC or LR Baggs Anthem™ pick-up are available as an upgrade. It features Gotoh 381 tuners (16:1 ratio) and has a full gloss finish on the top and a satin ‘Crystal Ice’ finish on the back and sides of the instrument. It comes with a custom-padded Emerald Guitars gig bag.

What a Guitar!! I enjoyed my conversations with the people at Emerald, I was on the fence about buying this 12 String because I hadn’t played one. I read many reviews, listened to people playing them online, and finally decided to go for it. This Guitar is a blast to play! It will respond to gentle or aggressive playing with equally pleasing results. It is a much more precise 12 String than I’m used to in that it is not “janglely” or too broken up when you get into it a little.I love the subtle overtones that happen ,like the guitar giving you back something for your efforts.I ordered mine with the”Anthem” pickup from Baggs. I played through an AER amp and it was pretty good,But at a recent gig I used my 12″ Yamaha PA setup and the sound was stellar.A number of musician commented on how great the guitar sounded. Its a love thing!

Similar to Jon, I was on the fence about purchasing this guitar. Though I’m mainly a classical guitarist, I have always wanted a 12-string as part of my guitar collection. I was afraid to purchase a 12-string before because of some horror stories of friends of mine who had wooden 12 string guitars which did not survive in the high humidity conditions of my country. In addition I had been looking at the X20 nylon as an option to purchase. Since I had to choose either the X20 nylon or the X20 12-string I decided to go for the 12 string since I already own a carbon fiber nylon string guitar. I contacted Emerald guitars and ordered the X20 12-string opus. The level of service has been excellent!

After receiving the guitar and taking out of its case I strummed it. My pores raised when I heard the sound. Such a crisp, loud sound and such a wonderful tone. Looking over the guitar the workmanship was really good both inside and out. The X20 has damn sexy look too!

A few days later I played it for my girlfriend. Her eyebrows raised when she heard the first few notes and she said, “Wow, what an incredible sound! What a beautiful guitar! That was totally worth getting” (Thank goodness she understands my addiction to buying guitars).

My only regret is not having purchased this guitar sooner. I’ve already started saving for my next Emerald guitar, possibly the nylon or a custom nylon.
