High Kings star Darren Holden to take X20 on US tour

High Kings star Darren Holden to take X20 on US tour

by Sean / Wednesday, 06 July 2016 / Published in News, Videos

Emerald Guitars have teamed up with Darren Holden of the world famous Irish folk group, The High Kings.

As our newest Emerald Guitars ambassador, Darren will be taking an X20 Artisan with him on the group’s upcoming extensive US Tour. This Friday, July 8, the High Kings will be at the Colorado Irish Festival in Littleton, CO followed by a show at the IAHC Irish Fest in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday, July 10.

Darren will have the X20 with him when the band returns for the full stint of the tour on July 27 beginning at Boothbay Opera House in Boothbay Harbor, ME. For dates where Darren will be performing with The High Kings and his X20 on their US tour click here.

We met up with Darren last Friday at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal town to present him with the X20 Artisan and he gave us his ‘First Impressions’ of the X20 and performed the song Hand Me Down My Bible from the band’s latest album, Grace & Glory.

Love at first sight

He said it was ‘love at first sight’. “It’s absolutely beautiful and like nothing I’ve ever seen or played before. It’s a phenomenal piece of work and I really don’t want to put it down.

“I think I’m going to have to fight the guys for this, because I know the moment they see it, they are going to want one, as well, so that’s going to be my main point of concern,” he laughed.

“I will be honoured to play this unique and amazing carbon fibre instrument and I am proud and honoured of becoming an ambassador for Emerald Guitars,” said Darren.

We will keep you posted on how Darren is getting on. If you do get to go to one of The High Kings shows, make sure to say ‘Hi’ to Darren!

The X20 Artisan is built to order and generally has a four-month lead time. The Artisan is available in black, amber, red, green and blue, as as a Woody.
