X20 Woody Cocobolo

Duncan approached us about building this custom X20 Artisan and he had some very specific ideas in mind that proved quite a challenge.  He wanted a dark veneer contrasting with a light-coloured heartwood so we set about searching all our veneer sources all around the world.
We exchanged numerous emails with photos of veneer options and none of them were quite right until finally we found this exquisite piece of Cocobolo. We then worked together to get the perfect book match and perfect placement to get the look exactly as he had envisioned.
It was our first time working with cocobolo and it proved to be not the simplest veneer to work with, but in the end it was worth all the effort as the results were stunning. It’s always a joy to work directly with a customer who has a unique idea in mind and even though he lives on the other side of the world, we can work closely to turn that idea into reality.

What. A. Beauty! It is stunning. I simply can't flaw it. Perfectly in tune, and sounding as clear as crystal.  I have never played a CF guitar before, so I was a bit nervous on that first strum. But the tone is full and loud and - well - it sparkles!  I just love it.  Thank you so much for treating my instrument with obvious love and attention.
