When we launched the Emerald Black Opus range, the goal was simple: deliver the essential Emerald experience in a more focused, accessible package.
Built right alongside the rest of the Emerald range here in Donegal, Ireland, the Black Opus X7 and X20 offer the same full carbon fiber construction, reliability, playability, and tone that players expect from Emerald — without the extra custom options or aesthetic upgrades.
In his latest video, guitarist Michael Watts takes a closer look at both Black Opus models: the compact X7 and our flagship X20.
The Same Emerald DNA
The Black Opus range is built around a single standard specification across the series, helping us keep the focus on what matters most: sound, feel, stability, and performance.
Each model features our exposed black carbon fiber weave with Crystal Ice satin texture finish, giving the guitars a stripped-back, modern look with a distinctive feel.

They also include Emerald 14:1 tuners, an LR Baggs Element Bronze pickup, full carbon fiber construction, and a professional PLEK setup for excellent playability straight out of the case.
It is everything you need from an Emerald, with nothing unnecessary added.
