To celebrate St.Patrick’s Day, we are unveiling a new collection of fretboard inlay designs inspired by the timeless artistry of Ireland’s Celtic heritage.
Ireland is home to many great works of art which have been produced here over the centuries, and from these traditions have developed a distinct stylistic language which remains instantly recognisable as being uniquely Irish.
This March, we honour that legacy with four new inlay designs, drawing inspiration from historic Celtic artefacts and medieval Irish craftsmanship.

Cláirseach
Cláirseach is the Irish word for harp, and this inlay draws its inspiration from the intricate ornamentation of the ‘Brian Boru’ Harp — one of Ireland’s most treasured artefacts, housed in Trinity College Dublin. A design steeped in history, and a fitting tribute to the instrument that became Ireland’s national symbol.
Cláirseach Lines
Inspired by the delicate detailing of the Trinity Harp, the Cláirseach Lines offer a beautifully understated addition to any custom Emerald. Clean, flowing lines with elegant semicircles run along the bass side of the fretboard — a refined alternative to traditional fretboard markers that lets the craftsmanship speak for itself.
Double Cláirseach Lines
The Double Cláirseach Lines take the elegance of the original design a step further, mirroring the flowing lines and semicircles along both edges of the fretboard. The result is a beautifully symmetrical frame that runs the full length of the neck — understated yet refined, and a perfect complement to any custom Emerald build.
Brian Boru Harp
Music is deeply woven into Ireland’s cultural identity — so much so that we are the only nation to use a musical instrument as our national symbol.
The 14th-century “Brian Boru” Harp — the historic harp that inspired Ireland’s national emblem — features beautifully carved ornamentation that has influenced elements of this new inlay collection.
Emerald 2026
We have also introduced a newly stylised version of our Emerald logo, incorporating our mascot “Rufus” the hound, inspired by the flowing, interwoven forms found in early Irish manuscripts such as the Book of Kells.
