The Balor Bass has been reviewed by one of Ireland’s best known session bassists.
James Blennerhassett has been working as a professional bassist for over three decades recording and performing with some of the biggest names in the Irish music industry and further afield.
We are very grateful that James took time out from his busy schedule to record this video and give his thoughts on The Balor Bass which he has been using on the road for the past year, touring with Irish Country singers Daniel O’Donnell and, more recently, Derek Ryan. Watch the video to hear his thoughts on our acoustic bass. The Balor Bass featured in the video is an Artisan model featuring a beautiful bubinga veneer.
James has recorded with The Chieftains with the Corrs / Rolling Stones / Marianne Faithfull / Elvis Costello / Eros Ramazotti / The Rankin family, Sharon Shannon with Jackson Browne, John Prine, Celtic Woman, Gabrielle, Brian Kennedy, Daniel O’Donnell, Paul Brady and many more. The Balor Bass
After 15 years of developing the art of acoustic bass we set about not just redesigning, but reimagining what an acoustic bass guitar should be and now we are proud to bring to you Balor.
Physics implies that an acoustic bass should be large to properly create low frequencies at a useable acoustic volume. So we have developed a completely new ergonomic shape that is 30 per cent larger than our previous model, yet feels more comfortable to play.
Finally, we have created an acoustic bass with gut-rumbling low frequencies produced at a volume loud enough to compete in any acoustic jam session. If you would like to find out more about our acoustic bassi, The Balor, click here.
