A Tennessee-based musician loved the X20-12 he ordered from us so much, he promptly ordered the matching 6-string.
Knoxville-based professional singer/songwriter Kevin Mahoney first discovered Emerald Guitars after seeing Grammy-winning American guitarist Al Petteway playing one in a YouTube video. “The sound was so amazing! I was hooked!
“After researching Emerald Guitars and being a huge 12-string player, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and hearing online. I loved the design and durability so I ordered one.”
When it arrived and he opened it, Kevin said was totally speechless. “It was so pretty that my family gasped when the case opened! I was blown away at the craftsmanship, the sound, the low action and comfortable neck.
“There is a very powerful balance and projection that still keeps a full yet bright sound. As a 12-string player, many times the necks are fat, flat, possess a huge difference as compared to their 6-string sibling – not Emerald. I was never more pleased with a guitar than this X20-12! It’s my main guitar,” the New York native said.
12-string
Kevin said there’s a ‘rich, full tone that just shines’ in his X20-12. “It’s a perfect balance that mixes bright and bold so nicely. I’ve had Taylors and Gibsons, but when I played the Emerald 12-string, I was blown away. So floored that I had to have a 6-string as well!”
Being so thrilled with his X20-12, Kevin decided that if he takes a 6-string with him, he would need it to be an Emerald. “I contacted Sean (Emerald Sales) and we discussed a timeframe for this X20 6-string. It was such an incredible experience previously that it was a no-brainer for me.
“This guitar confirmed that Emerald is a company dedicated to sound, design and complete customer satisfaction.”
“The tone, the balance, the richness is something that I have never heard in any Gibson or Taylor that I played before. Seriously, if you are looking for a company that is responsive to musicians’ needs, look no further. Emerald is dedicated to sound!
Kevin has already made great use of his two new Emeralds having played at the Smokey Mountain Songwriters Festival, various smaller venues and currently recording a CD of his new songs that he will tour with – all songs played on his two Emeralds! “There is a family feel at Emerald and I’m so thrilled to be a part of this company as a player of these amazing instruments,” he said.
